Why My City is Cool

During the summer of 2008, a Colby College intern audited municipal building energy use and performed a greenhouse gas analysis for the entire community. The Winslow Sustainability Committee was formed as recommended by the summer intern. The first task of the Committee is to make the public library building more energy efficient. The Town of Winslow also helped organize the January 2020 Catalyst meeting which brought together representatives from governments, institutions, non-profits, businesses, and communities to develop a sustainability vision for the Mid-Maine area. Winslow is continuing to support the efforts of the Mid-Maine Sustainability Coalition, the group tasked with acting on the goals outlined during the January 2020 Catalyst meeting.
